Located in the Xinyi District is the Taipei Financial Centre which is a landmark skyscraper. It was known as the world's tallest skyscraper from 2004 to 2010. It has been a symbol of modern Taiwan. The tower in addition to having many banks, financial firms and offices also houses many top end fashion brands such as Louis Vuitton and Dior just to name a few. In addition there are restaurants including the highest roofed coffee house in Taipei. Taipei 101 also has artworks and sculpture and holds art exhibitions.

One thing visitors have to see is the light at the pinnacle. A light which is supposed to symbolize a candle or torch and displays the messages of liberty and welcome is shone from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. There are seven different colors and each colour changes with the day of the week. It is truly a marvel and a must see. It will be enjoyed by anyone wuther they understand architecture or not.

Another wonder of Taipei 101 is the indoor and outdoor observatory. Both offer 360 degree views of Taipei and are the main attraction of the tower. People from all over the world come to see the observatory. The Indoor Observatory stands 1258 feet off the ground. The outdoor observatory is known to be the second highest observation deck ever in a sky scraper and it is the premier platform in Taiwan.

Taipei 101 has received many awards such as the 2004 Emporis Skyscraper Award and it is also noted as one of the Seven Wonders of the World by Newsweek magazine and the Seven Wonders of Engineering by Discovery Channel. The tower is also famous for its fire works on international New Years Even broadcasts and the structure appears in travel literature and international media. No trip to Taiwan is complete without a trip to Taipei 101.
