Take A Disney World - For Great Memories

It was May 10, 1977 and I told my mother I wanted to take a Disney World trip for my birthday. On May 30, 1977 we departed from Chicago's Amtrak station on our way. We took the train for two days from Chicago to Kissimmee, Florida because my mother was scared of flying. It was fine because we got to see lots of beautiful scenery and we meet lots of new friends. One of them was a young kid about the same age as I and his name was also John. He told me him and his family was going on a cheap Walt Disney World vacation because his father has "Disney World Secrets". We talked for hours about all the different places we wanted to go once we got there. Once we arrived, my family and I stayed at a Holiday Inn hotel only minutes away.

I remember how I felt when my feet touched the asphalt pavement as we walked into the hotel; I had goose bumps running up my arms as I looked at the posters and marquees of Disney World parks. My heart would not stop racing as I through about walking thru those gates. We had arrived late that afternoon and my mother wanted to rest and wait to the next day to visit the theme park, which did not set well with us, (because we were on 10+). So our parents let us go to the gaming area of the hotel to bring down our anxiety. But the next morning we were up bright and early, about 6 a.m. showering, putting on our clothes and looking through brochures and magazines, picking out all the spots we wanted to visit first. And as the doors open to our parent's room, our eyes brighten and grew a large as quarters because we knew; it was time to go to Disney World

A lot has changed since I've been there. The cost to go now can be a much for some. I suggest buying Disney World tickets ahead of time. The parks now consist of Walt Disney World Resort, Sea World, Pleasure Island, Cypress Garden, various shopping and dining areas, and many others. They also have water parks in Disney, like the Typhoon Lagoon, which on a hot day (I've heard) is really quote pleasing. They say the cool water of the park make you feel cool and calm. Mount Mayday has many kinds of slides like speed slides, twisting body slides and tube slides. And there's many more watery adventures like Storm Slides, Ketchakiddie Creek, Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, Shark Reef , Humunga Kowabunga, Gang Plank Falls, Mayday Falls, Keelhaul Falls and Castaway Creek.

There is nothing like going to a Disney World park. And I think everyone should experience the magic it brings at least once in their lifetime. I want to make memories for my children, just like my parents did for me and my 7 siblings. So enjoy life and take a Disney World trip with your family.
