Take A Walk In The Fresh Air

You do not have to live in the outer Hebrides to enjoy the great outdoors and in

fact in Great Britain, you only have to step outside your front door in most months to realise you need a good coat. Some people by nature are not too excited about outdoor living and outdoor pursuits in general in this country and, given our highly unpredictable weather patterns, that is not surprising. Of course, there are always those who love the outdoors and will brave virtually any weather pattern to step outside their front door and breathe in the fresh air. Many sports such as mountaineering or rambling involve being outdoors on rough and windy, cold terrain for hours.

Whatever your personality or preferred pursuit, the chances are you will need a jolly good coat to be able to withstand the likelihood of cold, wind, rain and squall that England so often generously serves up. The most important thing about this is that rather than moan and grumble about the fluctuating weather and cold, it is best to get stuck in and make sure that your outdoor experience is an enjoyable one. This is the case, even if the farthest you are going to venture in inclement weather is to your local village shops to collect the newspaper. It is no good chancing it because as soon as you do that you know what is going to happen. The rain will bucket and you will be caught out drenched, unhappy, beginning to sneeze and on your way to getting a heavy cold.

The way to enjoy being outdoors and breathing in the fresh health giving air is to feel warm and comfortable. This does not mean wearing the quotidian of dull, frumpy jackets that you would rather stay indoors and wear or makes you feel like braving the cold weather in a t-shirt in preference. You need to feel comfy and look great and fortunately there are a number of superb manufacturers and designers who have managed to achieve this and keep prices to an affordable level. A good jacket may have a good fleece lining for those extra bitter days, when the winds blast down from the north and it will insulate too, keeping you watertight dry. If you are going abroad you will also need a strong weatherproof jacket. After all, it is not just Britain that gets the sudden downpours; you can be caught out in most countries in the world.
