Do You Brush Twice a Day?

Effective brushing typically takes approximately three minutes.

Don't Skip the Floss!

Proper flossing at least once a day helps to remove plaque and foot particles in places where a toothbrush cannot easily reach - under the gum line and between your teeth. Because plaque buildup can lead to tooth decay and gum disease, daily flossing is highly recommended.

Starting with approximately 18 inches of floss, wind most of it around each middle finger, leaving an inch or two of floss to work with. Next, holding the floss tightly between your thumbs and index fingers, slide it gently up-and-down between your teeth. Gently curve the floss around the base of each tooth, making sure you go beneath the gum line. Never snap or force the floss, as this may cut or bruise delicate gum tissue. Use clean sections of floss as you move from tooth to tooth.

The Consequences of Poor Oral Hygiene


Poor oral hygiene invites plaque - bacteria laden film that will cause tooth decay and gum disease - to accumulate around the base of your teeth and gum line, causing your gums to become red and inflamed.
