Take Good Care Of Your Horses Health
When you own your own horse you must make sure that it is healthy and happy
. It is demanding keeping your own horse but the benefits outweigh these if you are really passionate about equestrian. You must make sure that your horse has the correct supplements.
When finding out what your horse needs there are different factors to consider. It will depend on the age of your horse, what breed it is, its overall health already and also what you expect to get out of a horse. Obviously if you race in proper competitions the performance of your animal will need to be at a greater level. This is in comparison than if you just casually take it for a canter as part of your hobby. Just like humans, a balanced diet is important and supplements will give them the extra nutrients that they require, it is always best to get a professional vet to check over your horse before just giving it any old nutrient. The vet will advise you on what will benefit your horse and you can then purchase them yourself.
Of course having a vet tell you what is best is an easier option, but if you really care for your horse it is best to do some research of your own too. Find out exactly what is in the supplements and how they help. If your horse has not ever had to take anything before, you should monitor how much you give it and what effects, if any it is having. If you have a better understanding you can advise the vet where you think the horse needs to be checked and then build upon what you know by asking them questions to find out their thoughts.
If you do take part in competitions or are looking to breed your horse, ask the vet if they can offer you any advice before you carry out these things. They will get asked these types of questions a lot and will be more than happy to help out. Different supplements will have a dissimilar time scale as to when you will actually start to see results, some may take a week others a month. With hoof supplements it takes months to see any effect so stick with these types until the recommended time of when you should see results, if you do not then contact the vet or research to find out why. You should measure out the supplements with a cup and not differ from the amount you give your horse, make sure not to ever go over the recommended dosage. Take care of your horse properly and monitor the results, hopefully you will start to see some.
