Take Your Time And Do It Right!

Prepare yourself, before the movers come to the house make sure all your paperwork is in order, whether you are flying or driving to your next location you will want to be sure to have all important documents with you and not left behind. Take your time, this is not something you want to speed through, what if you are talking a plain from Texas to Maine and you leave your identification in a drawer. This is one trick I learned through the years that has helped me out, gather all birth certificates, passports, social security cards, and medical paperwork putting them in a folder and locking them in the car! Do not forget to add to that all drivers licenses, your property lease and final bills and notices, as well as airline tickets or train tickets, everything you will need to have on you and dont want in a moving box for what could be for some a few months.

Now, the movers are gone, your car is loaded and you are on your way to your new location, you have the ease and comfort knowing nothing was left behind. But still the stress is weighing over you knowing soon you will be at your new home and have to unpack. For most its not the unpacking that causes you this stress, its the knowing you have to start a new job, or meet the neighbors, take your children for a tour at their new school, it is so many things, not just the one that causes all the built up stress. Wanting to be extra sure and careful to do everything right without going overboard, my husband always says, Slow and Smooth not Quick and Carless.

I think it is most realistic to say you are taking on 1 room at a time, and if you do not have job lined up yet or have taken time off before you start to move in you can probably finish each room in 2 days, so if you have a 7 room home you are looking at 2 weeks. But if you do have to start a job right away, or get kids ready for school your 2nd day in, then give it time, there is no need to rush, take your time and do it right.
