It's vital for your health to take a break from life from time to time
. By "life" I mean your day-to-day working life, your everyday routine and all those things that you do each day, almost without thinking.
The deal way to do this, is to take regular holidays. Holidays are, or can be, the perfect way to take a break from life. In order for them to be effective you need to get away from your everyday environment and do something during the day entirely different.
Some people, however, find it very difficult to "switch off" from their day-to-day activities. When you have a holiday arranged its important that you prepare for it step by step in the weeks leading up to the day of departure. This means not leaving your packing until the night before you go, nor rushing around the airport buying all the things you forgot to pack. It means instead, thinking about what you need to take with you, how you're going to spend your time when you're away and making careful plans over at least 7 to 10 days.
Unfortunately, for many, there are limitations in the number of holidays you can take during any year. So instead of going away for a long holiday you can take a break during the weekend, or during the evening after work. The most important thing for these mini breaks is that she planned to do something that you can become very involved in, something which is entirely different from your day-to-day work activity.
Perhaps you feel you are so busy that you need to use your weekends for domestic chores. You will however, benefit tremendously if you plan to do something entirely different, even for an hour or two during the weekend.
It's even possible to take micro-breaks during your working day. This means taking an opportunity every hour or two and close your eyes for a few moments aren't become conscious of your breathing, as you count slowly from 1 to 5 as you breathe in, and as you breathe out. As you do this be aware of any areas of tension in your body and relax them with your outward breath.
When you take regular breaks from your day-to-day routine, regular holidays, mini breaks, or micro-breaks, your general health and well-being will benefit. Not only you but the way you behave with other people will also improve and you will come to realise how vital this breaks offer your health.
