Australia is a large country, more than 3000 kms across, stretching from Perth on the west coast to Sydney on the east coast. Depending on where you are coming from getting there can take a while so choose a comfortable mode of transport.

When to go

The best times to take a trip to Australia are from September to November and March to May. These are high tourist season times but the sun shines almost all year round.

Guide Book and Transportation

When you decide to take a holiday to this much-loved destination, always make it a point to get a guide book with a map of the country. Details of the country will usually be provided in any properly structured map. To enjoy the beauty of the island dont cover large distances in one day, the island has a lot to offer, it is a visual treat and should be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. If youre looking to travel on your own you can always check the local newspapers for backpacker car hire companies. In fact, the greatest way I found to explore Australia, was to hire a campervan. I could view the scenery as I drove from here to there. But it was not just a wonderful sightseeing experience, I was able to move at my own pace and it was the cheapest mode of commute. The country has beautiful destinations and with the hired campervan, I could begin enjoying them as soon as I landed.

Accommodations

Holidaying is not about wandering to too many places; this can be stressful and taxing to your health. Relax and just enjoy your time off of work. A good place to relax is at a hotel that can give you comfortable accommodations and Australia has plenty of those. There are also quite a few good hostels which are affordable and fun to stay in if youre a bit of a free spirit.

Remember that when travelling alone it is important to do a little research about the place youre travelling to. Check for areas where accommodations are the safest. Stay in touch with your family or friends while travelling alone as this will keep you from becoming isolated. Lone travellers need to keep a watch on their personal belongings. Never reveal your travel plans to strangers. Confide in people only when you know them to be trustworthy. Dont go too far off without a means of communication in case the need for help arises.
