Taking A Look At Cargo Nets

Lots have people have a limited knowledge about what cargo nets are and what they are used for

. The closest many people have ever got to one is seeing a movie with a ship being loaded or unloaded and watching a crane lifting a heavily laden cargo net from its hold. There are a lot more instances where you would use one and you may not have realized it.

To start with, they are used in many more applications than we would have normally associated them with. Often they have uses that people wouldn't realize unless they were shown. Good netting systems can be set up as space dividers, or used to hold items in a smaller vehicle like your pick up truck.

Nets can be used for other things which depends on how well designed and put together your fasteners are. Some have been known to break or malfunction when put under constant strain or repetitive use. They are often put together with a poor jointing system that lets the straps down.

There are lots products that are made from good strong strapping but there are some that are stitched at the joins better than others. The actual straps are not the part that tends to give it's more often where they are connected to each other to form a web. The method of stitching is vitally important and many products let themselves down at this point.

There are also issues with some of the nets designs where they are made so that the carabiner is connected to the straps and not specially designed connections. With a correct design for the connection of carabiners or their equivalents cargo is secured much more stable and securely.

A good system also allows for adjustment of the strapping so that you don't have to improvise and in turn compromise the design. With an adjustment made easy the nets of choice would have more uses than something could be compared to a makeshift solution.

Even with something secured as best you can, you will have to consider the load bearing rating of the actual product which is usually stated by the manufacturer. In some circumstances, you will find that things can be moved quite a bit in transit and this will often put unforeseen forces in to the equation.

When most good manufacturers make something that has a load bearing capacity which is critical to the operation and function of the product they carry out major testing. Some of the best tests are to take the cargo nets to break point and then divide the breaking pressure by 3 in order to get a figure for your load bearing rating. In other words, something with a 1 tonne load rating would have been tested to around 3 tonnes. So before you commit to purchasing any product, cargo net or otherwise, make sure you know the rating system they've used and how they are tested.
