. It is rather apparent in this day and age, the more property you own is equated with financial success. So man continues to buy beyond his capacity for storage. The apartment dweller with limited space, is more than likely the one who needs these facilities, but everyone from every walk of life now takes advantage of their popularity.

The need was there and someone recognized it and turned it into a multi-million dollar venture. Public storage units can be constructed in a number of different ways with the end result being the same; individual units offered for rent as places to store items that one does not have room for where they live. Where there is plenty of land available, such as a suburban area, the units are laid out in a connected single floor plan. If the amount of land is at a minimum, such as in the middle of a city, a multi-level unit would be built or a warehouse could be renovated into rentable space.

There is either none or a minimal amount of insurance available to the renter of a public storage unit. If the items you are placing there have considerable value it would be to your advantage to speak with an insurance agent about attaining your own coverage. A certain amount of protection is afforded these units to guard against loss. Chain link fencing will require a special code to enter the grounds. In addition, each unit can often be fitted with a tamper proof alarm. Interior and exterior lighting is a deterrent to non-renters, and special codes and/or key cards are necessary to gain entry to each storage unit.

Public storage is available in nearly every size imaginable. They can be as small as a walk in closet or as large as a two car garage. Most of the units are constructed of corrugated metal and have no windows through which anyone can see what you have stored. Entrance to the units are usually a roll up door that is also constructed of metal and only the renter has a key or key card that will open the door.

From the smallest unit available to the largest one to be found, you will not be disappointed when it comes to storing your valuables. Many self storage units even have climate control that keeps your stored items at whatever constant temperature is best suited to them. It may cost you a bit more in rent, but it is worth the price to know that your items are safe and secure.

The renter is always notified of this event, and they have the option of paying up the past due rent and securing their possessions right up to the time of the sale. If the renter does not appear, according to that states law, a unit is opened and potential bidders are allowed to look inside at what is stored there. Nothing can be moved or even touched until bidding is complete and the contents are now the property of the bidder. The sale is done "as is" and the bidder gets the entire contents of the unit.

Even France has a few such units. Anything can be stored as long as it is not toxic or hazardous. The renter is also not allowed to reside in these storage units. As man continues to move due to divorce, marriage, family death, and job relocation, there will always be a need for these self storage units.
