Taking Care Of The Toshiba Laptops Batteries

If you have a Toshiba laptop or you are using the Toshiba laptops batteries for the

laptop you have there are certain things that you should know to take care of the batteries.

Like any other battery the Toshiba laptops batteries also have a life span which is generally about two years. This at times could also be described as 200-500 cycle life. To start with, you should know a fact about the batteries. The batteries have their life span which is limited. Hence, most of the companies would not say that it has a span of 2 years like in case of the Toshiba laptop batteries mentioned above. They would prefer to say 200-500 cycles. The fact is that as and when a battery leaves the factory it starts to die, like a perishable product. Usually the companies would advertise the cycle life and not the limited life span. The cycle life of the battery would mean how many times the battery has been charged and discharged, this would count as one cycle. Hence, when the company says that Toshiba laptops batteries are good for 200-500 cycles you know what they mean. The best way to put across the life of the Toshiba laptops batteries should be that they would last for two years or 200-500 cycles whichever is earlier especially, when we are talking about the Lithium Ion batteries.

Toshiba has various laptop models but there are mainly three genres of Toshiba laptops batteries. These would be

1. Nickel-Cadmium or Ni-Cd

2. Nickel Metal Hydride or Ni-MH

3. Lithium Ion Li-ion

When you purchase a new Toshiba computer, the Toshiba laptops batteries that come with it are completely discharged. You should not partially charge these and start to use the computer. The Toshiba laptops batteries need to be completely changed first when they are brand new and then you can use your computer. For daily use, while you have the Toshiba laptops batteries completely charged, you can still have it on the AC adapter however, make sure that you use the batteries as well. As it is important for the Toshiba laptops batteries or any other laptop battery for that matter, to have that charge and discharge cycle to function well.

If you are not using your laptop that often then the Toshiba laptops batteries should be taken out from the laptop and should be stored in a cool and dry place. And most importantly the Toshiba laptops batteries are recycled; hence, you really dont want to just throw them out, when the battery dies on you.
