Your windshield is a crucial part of your car that is often neglected

People are most likely to notice their windshield when it has a problem. Take the time to take care of your car's windshield before there are any problems so that you do not end up having to pay a lot of money to fix a preventable problem.
There are some problems that may occur that you could have never prevented. The most common of these problems is when a rock or piece of debris flies up from a car in front of you and cracks your windshield.
At times, this problem is completely avoidable. To try to stay away from running in to this problem do not tailgate people.
The closer you are to someone's car it becomes more likely that something will be kicked up by their back tires. Stay far enough behind that you do not run into those problems.
You should also make sure that you follow all of the required mud flap laws. This will help to prevent you being the cause of someone else's windshield problems.
Another common way for people to damage their windshield is to remove ice incorrectly. You may be in a rush to get the ice off of the windshield but you should always remember to do ti properly.
First, you will want to sit inside your car and start your cars engine. This way, the defroster can warm up and your car might be warm by the time you are done.
After you have started the engine you should turn the heat level to the hottest setting and put the defroster on low. This is a key part of the removal process.
If you put the fan on the defroster on high you will run the risk of cracking your windshield. This crack will occur because the windshield will experience such a rapid change in temperature.
After you have turned on your defroster you should apply a deicing solution to your windshield. Some people have this liquid in a spray bottle and other companies sell it in a normal bottle.
If you have a normal bottle you may want to invest in buying a spray bottle that you can transfer the deicing materials into. This way you can easily cover the windshield in the matter of a few seconds.
When you live in an area that you know you will be scraping ice of your windshield consistently you should invest in an ice scraper that works well. If you get stuck without a scraper you can also use a plastic spatula or even a credit card to scrape the ice off.
So, after you have applied the deicer you should begin to scrape off the ice. The best way to do this is to push the ice down.
When you are scraping you should make sure that your strokes are shallow. The shallower the strokes are the lower your chances will be of permanently scratching your windshield.
You should start on the outsides of your windshield and work your way in. The closer you get to the middle the harder it will be to reach.
When the ice is extremely thick you should start by chipping just small piece of the corner of the ice off of the windshield. If you get a chunk out of the corner you will be much more able to get under the rest of the sheet of ice.
The deicer that you are going to apply to your windshield can be found at the majority of gas stations and even grocery stores. If you cannot find one of these bottles of deicer you can easily make your own deicer from your home.
The easiest way to create your own deicer is to mix fifty percent water and fifty percent ethyl alcohol. Some people will use vinegar instead of alcohol.
You can buy a spray bottle that will get rid of the ice easily. Many people choose to make their own deicer because it is less expensive.
After you have made the deicer you can also use it to defog your windshield. When your windshield gets foggy you just have to dip a rag into the mixture and wring it out well.
After you have wrung it out you just rub it on your windshield and let it dry naturally. You will find that there will be a big difference in your windshield after you begin to take care of it properly.
