Taking Off Bestop Jeep Doors In 5 Easy Steps

. In fact, its so much fun. Removing the door reduces time consumed especially if you are in and out of the jeep several times. Taking doors off increases the jeeps mileage and also reduces its weight. To take off Bestop jeep doors follow the following procedure:

1.Open the bestop jeep door and the windows so that grasping and handling of the loose door will be easy. At the door jam, look for hinge connectors that keep the door secured to the Jeeps vehicle frame. There are two different door operating systems for a jeep: the power windows and the power locking mechanisms. After you determine what kind of system your door uses, you can now remove it.

2.Disconnect the power cables operating the jeep locking mechanisms and the power window. Front door connectors are found under the jeeps dash. Back door connectors are located at the B pillar thats under the floor mat. The connecting straps that protect the door from over-extending need to be unhooked next after disconnecting the power cables. These connectors prevent the door from going beyond the drivers grasp. When removed they separate the doors from the jeep.

3.At the jeeps door hinge, there are Torx head bolts. Loosen them one at a time to prevent more pressure on the ones not removed. If pressure is placed on the last head bolt, it could strip the threads that tighten to the vehicle the door hinge.

4.After all the bolts are loose, remove them one by one starting from the bottom to the top. After this, you can now safely remove the bestop door from the jeep frame. While forcing upwards, move the door in and out till it breaks free from the hinge connecting it. Make sure you have someone helping you remove it because sometimes its hard to manage jeep doors. To support the weight of the door while its in your hands, use the inside top of the window frame.

5.To make replacement of the bestop jeep door easy, return the Torx head bolts back into the hinge. This will help next time you want to replace the door. It will come in handy since you wont have to look for parts at the shops.

Most jeeps have their side mirrors bolted to the bestop door. You will therefore have to remove them from the door and put them back on to the jeep. The dome lights are usually left on after you remove the door, its therefore important that you turn them off. Your jeep is now ready for an open ride.
