Taking Tactical Firearms Training Courses
There are quite a few people who have thought about signing up for some shooting lessons or some tactical firearms training courses
. More people every day are enrolling in different courses, from self defense shooting to rifle shooting and many others. Guns are useful tools for hunting and for self defense, but just having a gun of course in no way makes you a super marksman. Unfortunately as we know, there are too many people who have guns who have no business owning that kind of a weapon.
At some point, many people who are serious about being prepared think about taking some type of class in weapons handling. However, many of us also find out that it can be confusing trying to decide what kind of class to take, what gear they need, who they should train with, and what kind of gear they are going to need. Of course, they wonder how much it is going to cost them too. You need to start with figuring out what kind of class you need to take.
Figuring out a tactical firearms training class to take is really up to you. Have you already had any kind of training? If you have had training as a security guard, you are a hunter, a police officer, a concealed handgun license holder, etc., you at least will have had some training in the basic rules of firearms safety. If you have never had any kind of training at all, you need to start out with the basic beginner course in terminology and safety. Most good ranges or gun clubs offer these programs, and the NRA also offers basic instruction.
If you are definitely comfortable with your basic skill level and you understand the aspects of shooting, the next step is to attend a true shooting school. It is dependent upon the instructor and your specific class, but a basic tactical firearms training course that is a step up from the beginners course is going to outline marksmanship fundamentals such as sight picture, trigger compression and reset, and stance as well. In addition, you will cover things like malfunction clearance, weapons transition drills and reloads, presentation to target and others.
Finally, you will be covering tactics- how you clear a building, how you use a particular piece of cover in the best way, what you should and should not use for cover, etc. First you learn to hit what you are shooting at in odd positions and while moving, then how to deal with problems with the weapons and finally in tactical firearms training, you will learn how to fight smart not only to beat the other guy, but to stay alive.
