Ever since your buddy took you with him on one of his flights
, now all you can think about is flying. You never realized just how much you love to fly, soaring in the sky like a bird is the most exhilarating feeling of freedom. If that feeling doesn't subside, here are some of the steps you need to take in order to pursue that dream of getting a PPL licence.
The first think you need to pass for a private pilot license is a medical certificate from an FAA authorized medical aviation examiner. You definately do not want to start paying any money towards lessons if the examiner discovers some unknown health problem which makes you unfit to be a pilot.
Once you have put the medical exam behind you, you need to prepare for the other three examinations you must pass in order to get a PPL licence. The first one is a written test that most people study for by going to ground schoolm however, the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) regulations actually allow a home study course as well. You may be able to do a combination of both and supplement it with practice test software to fine tune your skills. Software that provides you with feedback is a great way to discover areas where you are still weak.
The second test given is an oral which is handled by the FAA authorized examiner who will also fly with you for the third test which is the flight exam. Now, the only real way to prepare for the flight test is to actually practice flying. If you want to get a PPL licence you must include a minimum of 40 flight hours. Twenty of those hours must be with an authorized FAA flight instructor. Ten of your flight hours must be logged in solo flights. Any good flight school will let you know the specific requirements for the flight practices.
