Taking The Miami To Key West Tour Unexpectedly

During my most recent vacation to Southern Florida I unexpectedly ended up taking

a Miami to Key West tour and it ended up being the most fun thing I did on my entire vacation. Like most other people in the world I love to travel and see new places.

I feel so lucky to have been given the opportunity to see Miami beach Florida. I come from Portland, Oregon and I had never been to the East Coast prior to this vacation. My mother and father who are originally from New York City gave my wife and I an all expenses paid vacation to Miami as a Christmas present last year.

All throughout my childhood my parents would tell me very often about the great vacations they would take to Miami Beach from their home in Brooklyn, New York. They even went on vacation down there with their parents when they were children. They never really mentioned too much about going from Miami to Key West however.

So when I was on vacation down there I wasn't even really thinking about Key West. It wasn't on my wife's or my radar at all. We took our vacation in the middle of March. This was a great time for us to go down there because it was still bitter cold in Portland.

It was quite an adventure for us to be traveling to the exact opposite part of the continental United States. My parents got us accommodations at the Sheraton Hotel Miami Beach on 43rd Street and Collins Avenue.

This was an amazing resort and it was probably the nicest hotel my wife and I had ever stayed in including our honeymoon hotel in Hawaii. On our second day there we went down to the famous Lincoln Road Mall. This is an eight block promenade that is filled with stores, boutiques, restaurants, and bars.

As we were walking by one of the stores on Lincoln Road we happened to notice a sign that said Miami to Key West tours. So it piqued our curiosity and we went into the store to see what this tour was all about. It turned out that this was a one day tour that drove you to Key West by bus and it was very inexpensive.

We had both heard of Key West but were not very familiar with it. The little bit we had heard about it was that it was similar to places like Eugene, Oregon where it has a little bit of a hippy vibe and a crunchy feel to it. So we signed up for the Miami to Key West tour right then and there. Two days later on the day that we scheduled the Miami to Key West tour a bus picked us up in front of the lobby at the Sheraton at exactly 7 o'clock in the morning.

It was a relatively quick four our drive down there. So mostly we just read our books until the scenery got so beautifully astounding that all is we could do was stare out the windows and gape at the seemingly million different colored hues of green and blue.
