Here are some tips on how to drive through a sandy desert.

Long drives through the desert can put a lot of strain on your Benz. A hot and dry climate, sandy roads, and intense sunlight can cause many problems to your vehicle. To avoid getting stranded on a sticky desert, take the necessary steps to drive safe.

* Do all that you can to prevent your cooling system to fail. This is the leading cause of on-road, engine breakdowns. To do this you should have your system completely flushed with fresh coolant before you actually head off to the desert. Coolant that has already been partially used can enable the vehicle to loose many of its protective properties and thus cause your car to overheat. * Inspect your Benz serpentine belt and if it shows signs of major cracking, get it replaced. Because of longer rides and higher temperatures, belts can easily weaken and eventually fail which will inevitably stop your car from operating. * Test the performance of your HVAC system. It will be extremely uncomfortable to drive through a hot, humid dessert with a dysfunctional air conditioner or ventilation system. It can also be dangerous so be sure to check it before your long drive. * Initially check your tire inflation pressure. Also inspect for tire tread wear and if needed, get some new Mercedes Benz Wheels. Remember, extreme heat can damage both old and new wheels, so do what you can to combat this.
