History of tartan says that in the early stages, the design was limited to the people from elite families. That could be the reason for it to attract respect. By changing the width of each line or by adjusting the distance between each line we can make each design differ from the other. This advantage made it the most sought after design for uniform. As millions of designs are available in this pattern, each tartan dress will have a unique look. This is another reason for its popularity among the young generation. They are not only going for tartan for their dresses, even, door curtains, bed spreads etc are also preferred with tartan designs. They always prefer to wear tartan ribbon or scarf. Thus this centuries old pattern has become the favourite of one more generation.

Though with the development of technologies, the designing has become easy, and more varieties of designs have been introduced, the traditional ones such as Irish tartan, Scottish tartans etc are still in great demand. After all old is gold.
