When you teach puppy stay, you want to teach proper obedience training while the dog is younger so that the dog will absorb all the knowledge faster

. It is very important for your dog to know this, but since it is so easy, some dogs find it to be difficult.

As long as you teach puppy stay in a positive manor, your dog should pick it up faster. Be sure to keep it fun, light and not overly stressful. Teach puppy stay for about five minutes a day, that should be just enough to keep it fun for him. Practice in the same area as well, consistency is important, as so clear all distractions from the dogs view. He should be paying attention to you and nothing else.

When you teach puppy stay, place your left palm of your hand to about the tip of your dogs nose. Then tell him to Stay. Each time he even just somewhat understands you, give him a special dog treat.

Tell him that he did a good job. Make sure the treats are small, you do not want to get the dog full to fast, since you want him to be motivated by the food, not turned off to it. Only keep your hand there for one, maybe two seconds before you take it away.

Consistency is a useful in any dog command, especially when you want to speed up the process to teach puppy stay. When you learn to teach puppy stay, you will want to increase the time spent in that stay position.
