Use these measurements to chart where the furniture would be and how much space it will take.

Once you've created a space for the major furniture pieces now it's time to think about the plants and other accents. You likely know there are certain plants you want to be able to see, as they are going to be your pet projects. Do you already have a container for these? If you don't, it may be time to shop for that. Chances are, you can even find a planter that matches your teak outdoor furniture if you want to keep the same material in play.

For the plants that you know where you want them, chart them out on your floor plan as well. A lot of people have the misconception that plants don't take up a lot of space.
