Technological Aids To Help With Modern Day Teaching
In the olden days teachers were limited to a basic blackboard
, chalk and eraser. We now have many more alternatives to use in the classroom. Technology is changing the way we live our lives, we have laptops, tablets, iPads, smart phones, computer games, satellite navigation systems and many other advancements. Our whole lives are being lived with technology at the very centre of it. Our internet services can be operated via our flat screen televisions and everything is touchscreen. We can project our photographs onto walls and in our cinemas we can view films in 3D.
All of the technological advancements that are becoming more sophisticated by the day are very helpful and never more useful than in the classroom. Teachers have the opportunity to inspire pupils to levels previously unachievable than when simply writing words on a blackboard.
We now have the capabilities to fully enhance the learning experience of pupils by setting up classrooms with technology such as sound systems that are capable of engaging children and drowning out classroom noise. Teachers can use microphones and speakers can be set up in surround sound to all remote corners of the classroom.
Interactive whiteboards can be used as a central learning point within the classroom for reception children onwards. Whiteboard pens come in every colour of the rainbow and children can be inspired to learn with the intelligent software packages available.
Children are able to respond to questions and subjects from their handheld devices or laptops. These devices are all linked into their own accounts which can be accessed by their teachers to give a true picture of the levels that they are at and better insight into their educational needs.
The standard of visuals possible on whiteboards can be so vibrant and true to life that they do not fail but to reach-out and engage pupils. When teaching children about the world around us this was often done with basic diagrams in textbooks or sketches on a blackboard, the contrast to this is actually seeing a real picture in vibrant 3d detail is truly inspiring.
Classroom technology has changed the learning experience for our children and it has also changed the teaching experience for our teachers. Power-point presentations can all be prepared easily and adapted for the individual requirements of each class. Teachers can be saved enormous amounts of time with some of the software available to them. Subjects that would have seemed boring to many children can be brought to life with the graphics and dynamic visuals.
