Siri has its own personality which is a mix of seriousness and humor. Ask Siri "Can you find the nearest auto dealers." and it replies with a list of names of auto dealers in your locality, ask "Who is your daddy" and it comes up with "You are. Can we get back to work now.". These hilarious and smart replies from Siri can make you forget everything and laugh out loud.

How Developments Started for Siri

First it was announced that Siri would be released on all Android based systems and Blackberry devices. But after its acquisition by Apple in 2010, it was decided that it would be introduced on iPhone 4S. CALO project to develop Siri was funded by the leading research agency DARPA. A span of almost 40 years was spent in making of Siri. Along with the researchers from the agency, there were a lot of other researchers from leading universities like Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, Oregon State etc, who contributed in developing Siri.

Technology of Siri

The technology on which Siri works is the speech recognition. Siri is not the final application. It is in beta version and the development of the final app would be carried out in the near future. The languages which Siri recognizes are French, English and German. Siri can be ported on iPhone 4S's predecessor iPhone 4 and also on other Apple devices like the iPod Touch music player and the iPad tablet. Internet connection from a Wi-Fi or a 3G system is needed to make Siri work. To activate Siri on your iPhone 4S, you are required to press and hold the home button for 4 to 5 seconds.

Siri can Trigger Future Technological Developments

The app is still in its development stages but has already managed to gain so much attention. Guess how big an impact Siri will have when it is made into a fully developed software. Things are being made easier today with the help of technology like that used in Siri. When social media like Facebook and Twitter came into picture, people started being "social" only on those platforms. Siri is going to make it even easier for you by acting as both a friend and an assistant. Ask it to tell you a joke and it replies with some smart answers that can make you laugh. What Siri holds for future is a wonderful opportunity to develop the artificial intelligence into making a system that can act and react like we humans do.
