Tell Your Buddies About Heath Frisby And His Snowmobile Front Flip!
This past January, Heath Frisby completed the only front flip ever seen on a snowmobile in recorded history of the sanctioned competition
. Let me say that again, this guy actually landed a front flip. This is one of the trickiest and most dangerous tricks known to snowmobiling. Though Heath isn't a stranger to death defying moves: he was the original person to accomplish more than a few tricks that had were said could not be done some of which are body varials and Tsunami back flips, this trick was extraordinary. It is even more awesome when you understand that Frisbys run came right after the injury of a fellow X Games star. Justin Hoyer, was injured attempting a double back flip. When it was time for Frisby's turn Hoyer was being rushed to a nearby hospital where he was diagnosed with fractures to his left ankle and right forearm.
The well-known online video of Frisby's shocking run has been seen by just under two million viewers since it was posted late January 29, 2012. While the internet viewers comments tend to revolved around the field correspondent and her constant inquiries about if she should "run down there," it is really quite humorous to listen to her, anyone who understands the sport knows how difficult (and insanely risky) this front flip is.
The front flip was given a 9.66 score by the judges, easily earning the gold medal for Frisby (not his only first place medal in Winter X Games competition). The idea for this brand new flip was from Jackson "Jacko" Strong, an Australian freestyle motocross rider. He completed a front flip while competing in the X Games 17 best trick competition in 2011. Heath guessed that if it was achieved on a motorcycle, there's no reason it can't be done on a light snowmobile. He kept this idea a bit of a secret until several days before the X Games when he released a brief clip proving that he had mastered the rotation. The excitement surrounding his first run became briefly dulled when Hoyer was hurt.
Since Heath has accomplished this move, what everyone is wondering is, how will he top that? As one of the undisputed kings of snowmobile trick riding, his groundbreaking moves have encompassed tweaking backflips, double backflips, a few different varials and this latest front flip. Maybe next X Games he'll go for a front flip with a spin while chugging a frappuccino? No matter what he attempts I strongly recommend keeping your eye on Frisby, you might just see snowmobiling history being written!
