Tennessee Titans Tickets - Vince Young To Revive 0-6 Titans
It's no secret around the NFL that the Tennessee Titans have been dethroned from their reigning stature during last season
, but whose fault is it, anyway? That's the question being asked this week as the 0-6 Titans have tried to work out the kinks in their less-than-par play this season, and the brunt of the team's slip-ups has largely fallen on quarterback Kerry Collins (whether or not he deserves it is another issue). As the Titans gear up for a Week 8 matchup against division rivals the Jacksonville Jaguars, they are also adjusting to a new (old) starting quarterback: Vince Young.
Young, the Titans' first-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft out of Texas, took over starting quarterback duties from Collins in 2006 when Collins was injured, helping the Titans to a winning record and earning the distinction of NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year for his role with the team. Vince Young was thereafter named Tennessee's starting quarterback, but a knee injury and conflict with Titans fans for an interception led him to be benched last season.
Now that the Titans are 0-6, however, the team has to restructure its lineup somehow, and Titans owner Bud Adam feels that Vince Young will help lead the charge. Rumors have been flying this week that head coach Jeff Fisher would rather keep Kerry Collins in place of Vince Young at quarterback, especially as he recently made a comment that, "I'm still in Kerry Collins' corner because I don't believe that our record is a reflection of the quarterback play. It's a reflection of the team play. I'm still in his corner, but we've decided to go ahead and make this change."
Of course, this comment didn't go over well with the media, but Fisher went on to say that it was a "collective decision" to start Vince Young, and that Young will be the Titans' long-term quarterback. "As far as the future is concerned," Fisher continued, "I'm not one of those coaches who's going to have musical chairs at the quarterback position." So for now, 26-year old Vince Young will be back into rotation, giving Titans fans hope of turning around their current 0-6 season.
While much of the emphasis on football teams is placed on the starting quarterback, perhaps it shouldn't be. Kerry Collins has a quarterback rating of 62.0 and has accumulated 1,071 yards this season, albeit also posting eight interceptions. His play this season has been somewhat substandard, but then again so has all of Tennessee's offense and (especially) defense. This could be partly because of offseason changes, as the Titans took a big hit by losing Albert Haynesworth at defensive tackle, but let's also consider the Titans' schedule so far this season.
If one thing's for sure this season, it's that the Titans aren't being beat by teams like the Lions and the Rams. In fact, the team's schedule has been significantly tougher than most already this season, as Tennessee has faced the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots all before Week 8. Will the tides soon change for the Titans, though, and will Vince Young be able to revive Tennessee's 0-6 season? Patrons with Tennessee Titans tickets will get to see first-hand, so get tickets today and cheer on the Titans to their first win of the season!
