these players have got their chances to win the gold for their country in Olympics, there are few players as well who are sure medal hopes for the country and yet are refusing to play in the London Olympics Game 2012 just because of their ego. We are talking about Leander Paes. This 39 year old rank seven tennis player is a renowned name worldwide but these days he is in news for very wrong reasons. The row started when Mahesh Bhupathi who is a ranked 14 tennis player refused to play with Leander Paes in men's doubles for London Olympics. He wrote letter to Sports Ministry and insisted that they should send two teams in the Olympics. He suggested that, as he and the rank 14 in doubles, Rohan Bopanna, are preparing for Olympics for a very long time and therefore they should be paired together and should be sent to the Olympics as second team. "We were saying please send two teams and me and Bopanna want to pair up. Leander has been saying he wants to become the first Indian to play in six Olympics. He is going to go there no matter what. He can pick his partner being the world number seven. I and Bopanna have also qualified on merit. This is the way which will make everyone happy", he stated, being sarcastic on Leander Paes. Later he revealed that the whole issue circulates around their love-hate relationship. He told that he made this decision of making pair with Bopanna as Paes has lied to him at several occasions and even had changed his partner during a tournament in November 2011 without even informing him.

Indian tennis officials then decided to send Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna as a second team and partnered Leander Paes with 307th-ranked Vishnu Vardhan.
