Texas Holdem Mistakes - 3 Mindset Mistakes That Cost You The Game
Mindset is the biggest and yet most invisible thing of your poker game
. Don't make these Texas Holdem mistakes or you'll never win at Holdem.
A lot of poker is based on psychology. Most people think it's the psychology of the table, the game, like tricking people with a bluff, scaring people with aggressive play, or fooling people with a check raise. But that's only half the story.
The other, and probably more important part, is your own personal psychology. What is going on in your own brain. Because the way you think affects the way you act and that affects your results. If you want to get better results at the poker table just change how you think.
Now, there are one and a million ways to think, and what works for one person won't necessarily work for you. But there are some critical mistakes that will pull down almost any player. And I'm revealing them now.
Mindset Texas Holdem Mistakes #1
The first and worst is getting angry, physically aggressive or wanting to seek revenge on a player. This is commonly known as going on tilt. This is the worst mistake you can ever possibly make. It completely distorts your whole world and changes how you play for the worse.
Avoid it at all costs.
Mindset Texas Holdem Mistakes #2
The second mindset mistake is not correctly crafting your mindset to your strategy. Nowadays most players have a strategy, like say for instance tight aggressive or loose aggressive. But what they don't do is get their mind ready. So for example, with these strategies it would pay off to prepare yourself like "I'm going to be aggressive. My whole play is aggressive play. Aggression is what I'm going to do". etc.
Really work yourself up - for the better.
Mindset Texas Holdem Mistakes #3
A big mindset mistake a lot of tournament players make is that when they receive a lot of heat, or pressure, they instantly tighten up. This isn't bad, but tightening up far too much is bad because you will starve yourself out of the game. So in this instance the mindset of "Save chips, don't play risky cards" is actually negative.
I'm sure as you're reading this you are becoming aware of some times that you had an incorrect mindset for the game your playing. Maybe you went on tilt, or just lacked the initiative to really get yourself into your strategy. By now, I'm sure you realize that mindset has a massive effect on your outcomes at the poker table.
The only way to get a better mindset is to learn how. Quite frankly, learning new information and knowledge about poker is the only way to get better at it. So the next time you have an opportunity to learn, take it. What have you go to lose? Other than negative patterns, negative habits and negative results.
