Textile Dyes The Versatile Colouring Agents That Bring Out the Beauty of Fabrics

Textile dyes give rich colours and vibrancy to the apparels and play an important role in making the garments stunning and stylish.

Most of us have our own favourite colours and often choose clothes of that colour and is also linked at times to our personality type. There are many types of organic and chemical dyes that are used in imparting colours to a textile material in fibre, yarn, cloth or garment

Fiber reactive dyes are permanent fabric colouring agents that do not run off or fade easily. Before applying the colour to the fabric, the area should be neutralized and dried and the design can be cured by heating or air drying. Fabric can also be sprayed or painted with these dyes. In batik printing,l the fabric is partially immersed in dye to get the right colour patterns. Fiber reactive dyes are also used for screen printing as well and are very popular in T shirt printing.

Another type of dye used in garment industry is the Acid Dyes, which is applied from an acidic solution to get the true colour tone. The acid used could be vinegar or citric acid and the absorption rate of the dye can be controlled by using sodium chloride. Acid dyes are effective in protein fibers like wool or mohair and are also used in silk fabric and fiber nylon as well. These are available in a palette of bright shades and are mostly eco-friendly.

There are three different types of acid dyes including equalising, milling acid dyes and metal complex acid dyes. Equalising type has the highest level dyeing properties and can be used in combination of trichromatic shades whereas milling acids can be used in self shades only. The metal complex dyes are the cheapest of the lot however they can produce only dull shades.

Today, dyeing has evolved to be a highly specialized branch and the synthetic dyes produced these days are fully safe to the environment. The instances of toxic dyes are rare these days unlike in the past when the textile workers were exposed to a substantial risk of poisoning caused by dye dust.

B2B markets are the best places to know the latest happening in the world of textile dyes and to meet manufacturers and suppliers in this field.
