The 12 Mobile Phone Etiquette You Should Remember Part 2
Mobile phone etiquette exists although it's more on the side of common sense
, it's quite obvious that some people don't have any etiquette at all when using their phones. Mobile phones are tools for communication, it's just like talking to a person face to face, there should be mutual respect. Here are some phone etiquette that you should follow or at least be aware of.
Remember these rules to proper mobile phone usage:
4. Quick Replies To Missed Calls. Whenever you see a missed call on your phone it's acceptable to reply to the person via text and not a call. This is already an indication that you cannot accept calls at the moment. You might be in a meeting, in the office, at the club, the movie house, the bus or the train, some situations, texts would be enough just to indicate you couldn't. But if it's a really important call from an important person; then make sure that you include in the text that you acknowledge the call but you are in a "situation" but you'd call back later.
5. Drop calling. This happens when you don't want to talk anymore and intentionally drop the call when the conversation goes way south. This is one of the simplest tricks that people often do to end a conversation immediately. For others it may seem rude, well, if you just do it the right way. You can do it by just simple closing your phone or ending the call without any notice. The more random the call ends then the less obvious that you just drop called them. This is one guaranteed success for those who want to end a conversation asap without being too obvious. If you want to recommence the conversation when you feel comfortable then you can, hours or days later. Then you can start excusing yourself, like saying: "There's something wrong with the signal here, it's getting poor and after that I have to help my boss because something new came up in the office" or "I went inside the bar with some friends and sadly the reception got cut".
6. Poor reception and signals. Often times we use this excuse as to why we end the call but often time even if we don't want to our calls do get cut unintentionally. Not all phones and networks can have the same reception, it varies from one phone and network to the other. Having inconsistent reception is unquestionable on your part since it's not your fault in the first place. You can never judge a person's sincerity due to it, so that might work well for you at some points.
7. Loud ringtones. At first when you receive that personalised ringtone, you'd want to hear it every time your phone rings. Often times it gets annoying especially when it rings and repeatedly rings on places when it shouldn't be. It wouldn't hurt that you put your phone on silent, vibrate or just turn it off for a while? You don't want everyone to look your way annoyed because you just got them distracted.
Now those are the additional four rules of etiquette when you are out and using your mobile phone. Remember that when you are in public, change your mobile phone settings to the right mode. And with regards to drop calling, just make sure that you don't make it too obvious and blatant that you'd want to withdraw from the conversation.
