Upper level V6 equipped models come with an engine capable of producing over 200 horsepower. While the smaller 4 cylinder is more than adequate, drivers looking to get a little bit more performance from their ride will have to get one of the V6 models.

New for added safety are front side airbags which are standard on all V6 models and leather EX packages. Also added are a dual stage passenger side airbag. ABS is standard on high-end trim packages and optional on the lower 4 cylinder equipped models. Overall the Accord is a rather safe vehicle and garners crash test ratings that are often best in class.

Compared with many other vehicles the 2000 Honda Accord is able to offer a lot better fuel economy and the same sporty performance a V6 equipped package does. Competitors like the Chevy Malibu, Buick Century, Nissan Maxima, and Pontiac Grand Prix all offer the same basic features and a V6 engine option. The Accord is much lighter than most of these (except the Nissan) and is able to offer better fuel economy because of that. Most of the competition are able to offer very nice handling and ride quality making that category a lot more competitive.

The 2000 Honda Accord comes with a very nice economy package that includes the 4 cylinder engine and only the most basic of accessories. Those who want more of performance minded vehicle can get that too from one of the V6 equipped packages. Fortunately the Accord offers a little bit of something for everybody and remains one of the most quality built vehicles from the foreign competitors. Buyers who are looking for something a little bit bigger can probably find that as well from one of the domestic manufacturers.
