The Chrysler Aspen is a SUV which was produced by the Chrysler Corporation up until 2009

. Chrysler shut down production of the Aspen when they closed a manufacturing plant in Newark, which also manufactured the Dodge Durango. This was largely due to overall company financial troubles, and as of today there are no SUVs being produced under the Chrysler brand. There are no immediate plans of bringing back the Chrysler Aspen.

The 2009 Chrysler Aspen came with two engine options. The first option was a 4.7 liter eight cylinder, which came standard with a five speed automatic transmission.

The 4.7 liter engine had average fuel efficiency for a large SUV. The EPA estimated the 4.7 liter Aspen got 14 miles per gallon in the city and 18 miles per gallon on the highway.

For those who were looking for a slightly more powerful engine, a 5.7 liter, V8 Hemi engine was available. Many consider upgrading to the Hemi as being a waste of money, but the Hemi does generate good power. The 2009 Chrysler Aspen with a Hemi can get from 0 to 60 in just over 7 seconds. Fuel efficiency with the Hemi engine drops off slightly. The EPA estimated that the Aspen with a Hemi engine gets 13 miles per gallon in the city and 18 miles per gallon on the highway.

For those who were looking for better fuel efficiency, the 2009 Chrysler Aspen could also be purchased as a hybrid. The hybrid engine was a 5.7 liter engine which produced 340 horsepower, which is an impressive figure for a hybrid SUV. The Aspen Hybrid made a drastic impact on fuel efficiency. Early estimates projected that the Aspen Hybrid had 25% improved fuel efficiency on the highway and 40% improved fuel efficiency in the city.
