The 2010 Chevrolet Impala SS 5.3 liter V8 engine

The 2010 Chevrolet Impala comes in five different trims which provide three different engine options

. The 2010 Impala LS and Impala 1LT are equipped with a 3.5 liter six cylinder engine which produces 211 horsepower. The engine within the LS and 1LT trims also can produce 5,800 revolutions per minute and 214 pound-feet of torque. The LS and 1LT trims have decent fuel efficiency of 19 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.

The 2010 Chevrolet Impala trims 2LT and LTZ come with a more powerful engine than the LS and 1LT. The 2LT and LTZ trims are come standard and equipped with 3.9 liter six cylinder engine that pushes out 233 horsepower, 5,600 revolutions per minute, and 240 pound-feet of torque. The 2LT and LTZ trims achieve fuel efficiency of 17 mpg in the city and 27 on the highway.

The LS, 1LT, 2LT, an LTZ trims all come with Chevrolet's Active Fuel Management system which allows the cars to run on both gasoline and E85. E85 helps save money of fuel costs, but fuel efficiency using the E85 is about 30% less than when driving on gasoline.

For those who want the best performance available in the 2010 Chevrolet Impala, than the Impala SS is the best option. The Impala SS comes standard with a very powerful 5.3 liter small block eight cylinder engine that generates 303 horsepower, 5,600 rpm and 323 pound-feet of torque. Considering the powerful engine, the SS gets good fuel economy of 16 city and 24 highway. The Active Fuel Management system is not available in the 2010 Impala SS.

The engines within all five trims of the 2010 Chevrolet Impala are very similar to the 2009 engines.
