The 2011 Kia Sorento: From Suv To Crossover.

The Kia Sorento went from being an SUV to a crossover in its 2011 model

. It is now a crossover with a unibody and three-row seats. In terms of design, it has received some really major changes. It now makes use of a 2.4-liter four cylinder engine. Another option for the 2011 Sorento is a 3.5-liter v6 engine. Both these engine types come with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The new model of the Sorento is longer with a more responsive steering and an independent suspension. It is spacious enough to fit seven people comfortably.

The exterior look of the 2011 Sorento is now sleeker and has cleaner lines. The new model has a slightly shorter wheelbase by a mere 0.3 inches but the total length of the Sorento has increased by 3.7 inches. With the increase in length, there is more space in the interior of the vehicle for passengers and the third row seat. The new model also has a lower weight than the previous model. The four cylinder engine of the 2011 Sorento is less powerful than the 3.3-liter engine of the older model of the Sorento.

The three trim levels of the 2011 Sorento are LX, EX and SX. An All Wheel Drive or AWD is an optional feature for this vehicle. The new Sorento has standard 17-inch wheels. Optional alloy wheels are also available for the 2011 model.

Standard features are Sirius satellite radio, tilt steering wheel and Bluetooth connectivity. Other optional features are heaters for the seats, navigation system, third row seats and a rearview camera.

Safety features are front airbags, side airbags with seat mounting and two rows of side curtain airbags. It is also equipped with four-wheel ABS, hill-start assist control, downhill brake control and stability control. An additional safety feature is the rollover sensor.

Fuel economy rating is at 19 to 21 miles per gallon for city driving and 25 to 29 miles per gallon for highway driving. Its fuel economy is an attractive feature and gets a pretty impressive mileage out of the 2011 Sorento. The seven-passenger capacity of the new Sorento is also one of its most attractive features although the third seat is most suitable for the size of young children. All in all, Kia has successfully converted the Sorento from an SUV to a crossover.
