There are several websites and blogs you can set up for free, just do a Google search and check out one or two to see which ones will work for you. For websites, Wix.com and Webs.com come to mind. Google offers Blogger for free and WordPress also offers a free blog. Both are user friendly, and you can immediately begin reaping the rewards of it with Google ads.
While building your site, though, make sure you keep it simple. Don't go all out with a flashy design, lots of visuals and lots of splash. Instead, down play it a little. Focus primarily on what will be written on your blog, since that will tell potential customers what you offer.
In setting up your site, make sure you enable people to join by providing their e-mail address. You'll have a ready audience to further promote your business.
#2. Social Networks
Now that you have your blog or website set up, you're ready to take it to the next level.
You will never get your business off the ground, let alone drastically increase your profits unless you are connected with others through social networking. Register on every social network you can find - Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Digg, LinkedIn and others.
After you register, start blogging about what you do and include your site address, so people can visit it. Blog about your specialty and what you have to offer. Direct people to your site and encourage them to join your e-mail distribution.
#3. Show You're An Expert
An excellent way to get the word out as to who you are and what you can do is also to guest post on another website. Suite 101, eCopywriters, EzineArticles and others allow you a "by line," so that you can write about the thing that you are expert at. Some of them advertise. You'll have to go to the others and just sign up to begin showing off your expertise.
Don't worry if you are not a great writer. Just do your best in sharing what it is that you have to offer. Keep in mind, though, you can't just come out and brag about what you do.
