The ABC's of Guest List A and Guest List B

Do you have your list of guests but you just can't manage to cut people? Some brides choose to have an A and a B guest. Having two guest lists can be rather tricky and left to make those on the B list unimportant if not handled properly.Save-the-dates. Of course save-the-date cards are sent to guests to let them know just that, save the date for your upcoming nuptials. Your save-the-date cards should only go to those on you're a list. Imagine getting a save-the-date card I the mail only to NEVER receive an actual invitation?People Talk. When it comes to weddings, many times you have guests that know one another because of mutual friends and/or family members. If you are going t juggle two lists, make sure that those that are on one list are not friends with someone on the other list. In other words, if Sasha knows Elizabeth, don't have Sasha on the "A" guest list and Elizabeth on the "B" list. How would you feel if you were Elizabeth?Use Actual Invitations. Although you may never think of doing this, I have heard of occasions where because the couple did not manage their time properly, the invitations to the "B" list guests were sent to close to the wedding date and they used E-vites to invite those guests that were on the "B" list. If you are going to have two guest lists, then please make sure that you order enough invitations for both lists. If you receive an invitation for a wedding close to the wedding date, most likely your guests may know that they are on the "B" list, but sending an E-vite or any other electronic invitation screams it.Be Prepared and organized. We all know that everyone is not good about sending their RSVP. You need to make sure that you are organized enough to have a good tracking of who has RSVP'd, how many they are bringing with them, and who has not RSVP'd. If someone on the "A" list has not RSVP'd, then you need to make sure to call that person to determine their intentions. You also need to be prepared to handle an "A" guest that has decided to attend at the last minute, but their "spot" has already been filled by a "B" guest. If you choose to have two guests lists, then make sure that you are able to handle it with grace so as not to make anyone feel they are second.
