The Addams Family Tickets -family Accomplishments Goes Beyond Broadway

He's creepy and he's kooky, but really not all that spooky

, and he's still got the leading role in the Broadway play "The Addams Family." Tony Award winner Nathan Lane, who currently stars as father and leader of the haunted house, is set to star in the ABC comedy "Modern Family."

Lane will join the cast as the "ultra flamboyant friend" of Cam and Mitchell, reports Deadline.com, a role Lane has perfected on the silver screen before. Yet the loveable macabre character will remain a favorite on Broadway alongside Bebe Neuwirth, so pick up The Addams Family tickets from StubHub today.

Open since March, "The Addams Family" has been gathering support from fans across the country, awarding its stars a Broadway.com award for Favorite Onstage Pair. The duo, which has been praised for their onstage chemistry, showed their talent went beyond Gomez and Morticia when they mimicked Jerry Lewis and Neuwirth in the Broadway.com acceptance speech. "This really means a great deal," Lane laughed. "Thank you very much, because it is the people like you, the audience, who have made The Addams Family such a great success."

The show has been earning crossover success in an unfamiliar department - the salon. Neuwirth, who succeeds as the matriarch in the Broadway show, recently partnered with Essie Cosmetics to debut a line of macabre inspired nails. The themed nail polishes, deemed Morticia's Nails, include three distinct colors and will benefit the Actors Fund. The nail-biting addition is just one of many to be included in "The Addams Family" accomplishments. In July, the original cast recording appeared in Barnes and Noble venues around the country, featuring 21 songs from the musical.

"The Addams Family" had a world premiere in the fall of 2009 but in a year went through extreme renovations. Debuting in Chicago following its initial tryout, Tony Award winner Jerry Jaks ("Guys and Dolls") joined the crew as creative consultant to rewrite and sharpen numbers written by Rick Elice and Marshall Brickman of Jersey Boys fame, and music and lyrics from Andrew Lippa. "We are very pleased that Jerry is willing and eager to come on board at this point in the process to collaborate with our creative team to insure that the show achieves its full potential for its Broadway debut," producer Stuart Oken said last year.

The show, while based on the characters of cartoonist Charles Addams, is completely independent from the television and film editions of the past. Instead, the story follows Wednesday, played by Krysta Rodriguez, who falls in love with the normal boy next door. The show's most original feature is the music, which according to composer/lyricist Lippa is "character based." "Each of the characters sings in [his or her] own language. Gomez is represented by Flamenco-style Spanish music; and Wednesday is represented by a certain amount of contemporary pop music," he said to Playbill.com.
