The Advantage Of Having An Entourage Edge Ereader

Entourage Edge eReader takes the ebook reading experience to a new level as all of

your notes and highlights are preserved, recorded and attached within a table of contents (viewed on the colour screen) where they can be reviewed. For example, after highlighting five passages in a chapter, the books table of contents will show five separate links under the chapter heading quoting the first few words of each highlighted selection. Additionally, any ebook can be exported to PDF with your scrawls and highlighting intact.

The Edges 1200 x 825-pixel, 9.7-inch e-ink anti-reflective matte screen is spacious and fits more text on the page than the average six-inch reader. With 8 shades of gray, the Edge provides a fairly decent contrast. As can be expected with e-ink technology, theres quite a long refresh when turning pages and zooming in on text. Although the forward and back buttons make it easy to page through a book, having finger swipes on the touch enabled screen would have been an added bonus.

The LCD screen comes in handy for performing searches while reading. For example, when you select the magnifying glass icon from the top of the ebook display any selected word or phrase will generate a search query on the LCD display. Although search capabilities are nothing new for ebook readers, the unique two-screen design of the Edge allows better interplay between the text and the search, without breaking your train of thought.

The device can handle PDFs and EPub books with embedded media (such as video) and hyperlinks. When clicked, they load in the appropriate program on the LCD side.

Aside from that the touchscreen allows you to scrawl notes directly on the page, highlight passages, copy text selections, perform searches, navigate between pages and chapters, zoom in and out, attach virtual sticky notes, dog-ear pages, and more. Pretty impressive, but because the screen is e-ink based the writing experience is excellent.
