The Advantages of Natural Fibre Mattresses

In our modern age we are surrounded daily by energies that can have negative effects on our body without our knowing it. Chemicals and electronic interference are invisible to the eye and can be all around us without our knowing. One of the most significant negative energies we experience with Electromagnetic Fields. They are created by electric power charges and can be amplified by metal. As most mattresses contain inner springs you can be experiencing these negative energies in the eight or so hours you are supposed to be resting and recuperating. No wonder in Feng Shui terms, inner springs are known as "poison arrows". But it's not just the metal used in mattress that can affect our sleep. Chemicals used in the production of the mattress can also cause harm. The off/out gassing of glue and fire retardant chemicals as well as vinyl covers and polyurethane foam cores release chemicals into the air. Sleeping on natural fibres, preferably produced without chemicals, is a viable alternative for those people sensitive to 20th century chemicals.

Cotton, latex (rubber) and wool mattresses are healthier places to sleep and these natural fibres don't come with the strong odours that inner spring or other manmade mattresses like the much touted, memory foam carry. Generally, mattresses using natural substances use one or a mix of all three of these substances in the batting (the stuffing) or the ticking (the outer fabric cover). Traditionally, natural fibre mattresses are generally harder than inner spring mattresses (think futons) but the increasingly widespread use of latex has brought softer options onto the market. We are often quite vunerable when we sleep and to avoid nightmares about the effects your mattress is having on your body, natural fibres are a reassuring option.About the Author:
