The Argentine Tango

Many people seem to think and believe that the tango is the dance where two people

dance incredibly close together and where one person will strut around with a rose between their teeth. However, that is the ballroom tango. At tango classes you can learn the Argentine tango, which is a distant cousin of the ballroom version. Both dances derived from Buenos Aires, but both have become two extremely different dances altogether.

The tango is generally walking with your partner to the music. The music is extremely important when carrying out this dance, as it is said that a good tango dancer will make you see the music.

The Argentine tango requires some improvisation in parts, although certain patterns of movement have been noted and instructed for many years. Attending a tango show is a great way to see some of the best tango dancers available and get a good idea of the dance style.
