The Balloon And The Lake

It is said the hot air balloon is the oldest form of human flight in a transport variation

. Who'd that they would still be many years after they had originally come out and various other more modern forms of transport have come, whilst most of the existing forms of transports have evolved with the times. But hot air balloons haven't which is why they have a certain charm to them. How an hot air balloon works, you have to use warm air to make the balloon rise. You do this by using propane burners to make the envelope (the huge sheet like bag that people often call the balloon), if the envelope cools then it will start to descend. Beneath the envelope is a gondola or wicker basket, they carry customers it is also he where the propane burners are located in. To control the balloon it depends on the wind and weather, most pilots will find out about the weather conditions as it will help them when manoeuvring.

To be honest a hot air balloons are impractical in terms of means of transport, you can hardly steer them and they only travel as fast as the wind blows. Also hot air balloons cannot fly past the atmosphere just like most other types of aircraft.

Most companies typically depart right after sunrise because this is the time when it is cool and the winds are calm. So this can be anywhere between 5am to 7 am, this is because of the sun rises at different times of the year. The guests will travel to the Tahoe Keys Marina where they will board the Tahoe Flyer which looks like an aircraft carrier vessel but the function of it is to inflate and be a launching deck for the Hot Air Balloons.

The Tahoe flyer is the only U.S.C.G. Certified Balloon Launch and Recovery. It is a good way of watching how the balloon is inflated and deflate as you get to see how the crew set up right in front of your eyes. It is the only vessel of its kind in the world, it travels at 16 mph and it follows Hot Air Balloons. When the Balloons have finished their flight it catches the balloon and brings it back safely onto the upper deck of the Tahoe Flyer.

The flight lasts approximately an hour. While in flight you will be over 8,000 to 10,000 feet above sea level and you will be able to see all of Tahoe including the second most photographed place in the US Emerald Bay, plus there a re many more to see. When the flight is finished the will land back at the Tahoe Flyer, which will take them back to the Marina.

So even though the flight may last a hour the experience can last roughly four hours. Some may scoff at it taking so long but the overall makes it worth it so if you are staying at one of the numerous Lake Tahoe vacation rentals have a looks at this and see the best views of all of Lake Tahoe.
