A recent survey by the Spanish Meteorological Agency reveals that the Canary Islands enjoyed much higher than average temperatures for the time of year between December and February. Not surprisingly regular guests will only see this as an extra bonus.The three months from December to February saw the average daytime temperature recorded as 19.4 C in coastal areas across all of the islands. Which constitutes an increase of at least 1C in comparison with previous winters between 1971-2000. With winter temperatures this good its not really surprising that Lanzarote is often known as a holiday hotspot This unfailingly consistent good weather is what's made the region a popular holiday destination for many people. It has an fantastic mix of rental accommodation, providing a real choice in the kind of vacation one can arrange.Increasingly, visitors are generally moving away from old fashioned getaways and deciding instead for a stay in one of the many holiday villas in Lanzarote in lieu of choosing a package tour or hotel. As this provides a much more individual and comfortable type of stay, with many of the conveniences guests are used to at home. The oldest resort is a good case in point, as Puerto del Carmen villas are situated in the most desirable areas of the town. This ensures that visitors staying in a villa will experience the best aspects of the resort during their stay. But for those who are less interested in soaking up the sun there is a wealth of things to do.As small islands go, Lanzarote has a higher than average number of tourist attractions, with several dedicated to documenting the history and culture of locals. But it is also an extremely popular holiday location for sports enthusiasts, with any number of activities on offer to tourists, from surfing to golf. All of which means that even for those visitors who aren'tt big on sunbathing, there is plenty to entertain and interest on a holiday to Lanzarote.
