The Basics of Choosing an Entry Alert System
With all of the news today showing how easy it is for someone to break into your home it is imperative that you protect your loved ones
. The easiest way to ensure their safety from day to day is to secure your home. By doing this you can add a peace of mind to your life that cannot be achieved any other way. Of all the systems available on the market, entry alert devices are the most effective and widespread. They are relatively inexpensive and easy to install, while remaining effective and versatile.
The basic systems start off with a simple deadbolt and a doorbell. For many people something this simple may seem ineffectual, but you have to remember that most security systems are designed to alert you when someone is entering your house or deter them from trying. An easily visible, lighted doorbell button will provide people a way to let you know that they are supposed to be at your door, and most people who ignore it are probably unsavory characters. When you combine this with the security of a deadbolt you will deter most would-be criminals from targeting your house because it will be too secure.
For situations where that may not be enough security, which depends on the neighborhood and complexity of the house, you may need to look into motion sensors to alert you when people are approaching your house. Most of these devices work by using infrared or laser technology to monitor a specif area. When something moves in that area it breaks their beam and sends a signal to the central device, sending out a chime to let you know that someone is present. Although they add a great deal of security to most situations they are also very temperamental, as they can be set off by small animals as well as intruders. This means you have to choose the areas monitored very carefully in order to minimize false alarms.
Trying to secure a commercial site, or apartment complex, requires a much more aggressive approach, modifying the approaches above to handle a greater volume of traffic and securing the site through more expensive means. To monitor an area, without requiring extra security personnel, a motion detector can be combined with a camera in order to record any activity that takes place. This will allow you to determine fault or guilt if a situation arises beyond your control. If you are willing to pay someone to monitor your location in real-time then you can use a more complex entry alert system to control who has access. This will ensure that only approved people will be able to gain entry into a particular location. The best way to do this is to use a keyless entry system, an intercom combined with a buzzer, to give your employee control over who enters. By doing this you will have someone to hold accountable, who also doubles as a first responder to any situation.
With these basic ideas you can search the internet to find the right solution for your particular security needs. Remember, that the complexity of the system does not necessarily translate to its effectiveness. Consider what your situation requires and get just enough security to protect yourself, anything more will just make your life needlessly difficult.
