Almeria and its wonders

Almeria, seen from the ramparts of the huge Alcazaba, looks like Northern Africa, on the background of a yellow desert and having a blend of houses with flat roofs and high blocks of flats. This is Almeria and just 24 miles, that is 40 kilometres to the west you will find the city of Almerimar. Almerimar keeps alive the spirit of Almeria: the desert background is present, but the city has been transformed into a huge resort that wanted to avoid the blending of different types of buildings. The resort is decorated with trees and flowers forming beautiful gardens in order to attract tourists who are sick of the desert-like aspect of this part of the country; Almerimar looks like an oasis situated in the centre of the desert, an oasis that has a few miles of nice, fine beaches, a renowned golf club with 27 holes, bars, restaurants and pubs where you can taste the traditional tapas, and a very special yacht marina, which attract many tourists every year.

People who choose Almerimar for their holiday destination do it because they are attracted by the Almerimar Marina. The Almerimar Marina was opened just a few decades ago, or to be more exact, in 1978, and represents one of the most popular meeting points for those who love the sea and the water in the Mediterranean. If you are not yet accustomed to sailing and have never practiced it, there is no reason to worry that you will not spend a pleasant time in Almerimar; the sailing schools have special programs for novices and you can have a very interesting sailing adventure with the already experienced crew that stays at your disposal. However, sailing is not the only sport that can be practiced here: windsurfing, horse riding and golf. The Almerimar Golf Course is a very nice course arranged so as to create the impression that you are surrounded by nature.

Almerimar is extremely well maintained; the two beaches are very clean, because the staff regularly takes care of them in order that they will be perfect. The restaurants have very tasty food and you have the opportunity to taste some of the traditional dishes, so your taste buds will be pleased. If you get bored of water sports and sun baths, the shopping centre situated very close to Almerimar offers you the possibility to do shopping or watch a relaxing movie, so the opportunities are varied, it all depends on what you choose.
