The Beautiful Christmas Time & Some Christmas Carols
The Beautiful Christmas Time & Some Christmas Carols
I think this is a time when we all get closer to God once in a year by celebrating the spirit of Christ and thus the spirit of Love that moves on to us. I think it's not so easy to explain, but the Love is in every detail and there is this romantic vibration all around, especially when snow has fallen and softly covers everything in a clear night or on a clear day.
In my experience as soon as the new year starts, there seemingly is nothing more to look forward to and I think that's too bad, a real pity! That beautiful festive mood is wiped away from the people's faces overnight because there are only few days left until work must be dealt with again, and the beautiful decorations will inevitably be removed very soon. Everything indicates that there will be a period of plainness, after every street, every place, and every house was decorated in such wonderful ways. I think it's this mean and stark contrast between the magic and beauty of Christmas and the ensuing state or time of emptiness and nothing to look forward to, the 'unholiness', that pulls the people down.
And then I'm asking myself: "Why can't we carry that spirit of Christmas throughout the whole year like it's kept in churches, if we let ourselves in for it?" I mean, why do we have to go back to daily routine, when we could have the best time of our lives all year and in the end all life long? Why do we all the sudden have to act grumpily again, when just yesterday we became witness to the most beautiful thing men have ever lived to see? Only because officially Christmas is over in anyone's calendar? I mean, really?
Let me ask you one question - and I'm not making any accusations against anyone here -- "Is it our duty to be stressed and to feel poorly, or is it our duty to love and give ourselves the best time ever?" -- Think about this for a moment, please, because every time we are happy, and I mean like overjoyed with this slight taste of inner peace, this feeling rubs off on other people - whether we meet them outside and give them a smile or they are part of our family, people sense that and it sweeps them away as it is what, I think, we all want deep within us -- to be free of pressure, free of social constraints, and to no longer suppress our feelings, to feel free and freely and in the end to be free.
So let us make a difference today, and let us keep the spirit of Christmas alive, let us make Christmas last! I wish you the best and most wonderful Christmas you have ever lived to see, and may this feeling last for you!
Oh, by the way, I have a beautiful video for you in that my brother and I perform an old Christmas carol called "Emmanuel" together with our little sister. This video also shows some very beautiful and not so well known, but very Christmassy and festive parts of our hometown Hamburg: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuK-kpv1-WA
We played "Emmanuel" the way Blackmore's Night arranged and performed it on their album 'Winter Carols'. If you'd like to find out more about it, click on Blackmore's Night - Winter Carols.
