Bali, the famed island of the gods, continues to stay at the top as a favorite tourist destination

Such terraces is a farming or agricultural technique for optimizing and maximizing the use of water in the fields. Some 20 kilometers from Tabanan, West Bali, you will find the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces. And if you take the road that climbs the hill to Jatiluwih which is about 850 meters above sea level, you will be amazed at the great panoramic view that will greet you. Terraced rice fields will render you breathless as it stretches over hills and valleys.
Jatiluwih rice fields got its name from the combination of Jati and Luwih, wherein Jati means really while Luwih means special, good, and beautiful.
If you are up on the hill, which is about 700 meters above sea level, expect to have cool atmosphere. It is also interesting to note that aside from its nature potential, it is also culturally and historically rich since the Petali Temple stands here that is related to the King in Keraton Gelgel, Ida Dalem Waturenggong.
And because Balinese people are religious people, the Jatiluwih is also is home to the unique religious ceremony known as Bali Hindu which is now more popularly known as Patirtaan in the Petali Temple. Aside from that, there is also the Pucak Rsi Temple.
The Jatiluwih has also been recently added in the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites because of its preservation of its traditional farming techniques.
Jatiluwih is also where the Dutch colonial had built the Security Headquarter and since then, it had already become a recognized tourist destination.
However, what is saddening is that many tourists do not know a lot about the existence of this natural wonder. Often, they just settle in the more popular areas of the island.
The majority of non-Bali local tourists and foreign visitors seldom and are less inclined to come to Jatiluwih as a tourist destination for nature while theyre in Bali. They prefer Kuta Beach, Ubud and Tanah Lot, said Wayan Suksma, who currently works at a coffee stall in the village.
