College is probably the most exciting phase of student life. A student entering college has the opportunity to learn, grow as a human being and also make new friends and learn new skills. One can enjoy increased independence and confidence by joining a fraternity or sorority while in college and get a network of friends and mentors to support him through college and in later life too. Upon joining a fraternal organization, a student has to keep up certain academic levels too because the fraternities and sororities lay quite a lot of importance on academic success. This makes students learn better in class so that they can meet up the minimum requirements for being able to pledge for a fraternity or sorority.

Joining a fraternal organization also gives a student the opportunity to learn about the structure and workings of a large organization. This helps students in gaining the highly useful understanding of the real world that lays waiting outside the college gates. With the activities of college sororities and fraternities a student gets to participate and learn communication skills. The joiners also develop advanced social skills and discipline to excel academically. The fact that fraternal organizations engage in community service and charitable causes, allows students to work together in a team and most importantly bond with their fellow members over a cause that moves them both. Also, when the brothers or sisters work together on large events, they learn organizational leadership and communication skills. This is one of the greatest benefits of the Greek experience.

There are a number of other advantages too while working for a Greek organization. Students or Greeks get to work on managerial level issues like budgeting, policy and procedure development with the faculty advisors and alumni. All these activities train them to take charge earlier on in life and set them on the path of being good leaders. As students work their way up the fraternal organizations structure they get the support and gain confidence to successfully assume leadership positions in the fraternity and other places in later life.

The biggest and lifelong benefit of being a Greek is the camaraderie and support one gets from their Fraternity or Sorority. Usually the alumni of a fraternity keep up with the fraternity activities and even fund them. Interacting and networking with such influential alumni is highly beneficial for fellow Greeks. Networking with the influential alumni gives the new joiners the opportunity make contacts in the professional world; and get help, guidance and assistance in building a career. After graduating many Greeks stay on touch with their fraternity brothers and assist each other with job skills, contacts and growing in their careers.
