1-Anesthesiologist. This job, which requires 12 years of college training, offers a lucrative salary ($325,000 +) and a strong career future. You need a four-year degree plus four years of medical school and four years of additional training.
2-Licensed Practical Nurse LPH/ LVN/ RPN. As the population in the US ages and the number of baby boomers develops health problems associated with age, the number of nurses is also expected to continue to grow rapidly. You need to complete a one-year training program through an accredited college or university to become a nurse.
3-Pharmacist. The number of pharmacists and pharmacy techs in the US is expected to grow more rapidly than most professions. The pay is good (averaging about $95,000 per year), and they need to earn a Doctorate degree in Pharmacy, called a PharmD, which is a four year program that you can begin once you have at least two years of college completed.
4-Pharmaceutical Regulatory Consulting. This job requires strong knowledge of FDA guidelines for OTC and prescription drugs. These consultants help small businesses go through the required testing and documentation to the FDA in order to have new drugs accepted by the FDA.
5-Radiation Therapist. Currently we are experiencing strong job growth in the radiation therapist field. The average salary for radiation therapists is around $60,000 per year. You will need to graduate from college with a degree in radiography, and then complete a one-year postgraduate certification program in radiation therapy. You will need good communication skills as a radiation therapist.
6-Health Educator. This job has a strong projected growth rate over the next few years. They usually work in colleges, schools, health departments, or community organizations. You need a bachelor's degree in public health, health education and promotion, or community health to be a health educator. Once you've graduated, you will then need to pass a written test, after which you will officially be a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).
