The Best Robert De Niro Movies In The Past Few Decades

When it comes to listing my favorite actors of all time

, Robert De Niro is at the top of the list. The man has been showcasing his talent in major motion pictures for the better part of 40 years, and shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. It is clear at this point in time that acting is much more than a profession for Robert De Niro, it is a way of life.

The following are some of the best movies starring Robert De Niro of all time.

Probably my favorite Robert De Niro film of all time is the Martin Scorsese directed mafia film Goodfellas. This movie won the Academy Award for best picture in 1991, and with good reason. This is a true rags to riches story, and just so happens to be based on the true story of Henry Hill.

Another great movie from this incredibly talented actor is The Score. Also starring Edward Norton, in this film Robert De Niro plays a talented jewelry thief nearing the end of his career, but has one more heist he wants to pull off.

If you have never seen Raging Bull, you are missing out big time. This film is simply put, an American classic and may be the role that catapulted Robert De Niro to his current level of stardom. And that was in 1980!

It would pain me to make a list of Robert De Niro films without mentioning The Godfather Part II. It is hard to imagine anyone else bringing the brilliance to Mario Puzo's Vito Corleone the way that De Niro did it. This is arguably one of the greatest films ever made.

Finally, I felt that A Bronx Tale was a film that was worth mentioning. This is one of the few mob films that stars Robert De Niro as the good guy! Chazz Palmienteri, who also happened to write the script, plays the bad guy in this one.

While these films comprise my top five favorites, I may feel the need to write a follow up article listing films 6-10 very soon.
