There is no doubt that Paris is one of the world's most beautiful cities

. It is full of culture and history. Regardless if you are in Paris for a short time or a long time you want to plan your trip carefully so you make the most of it. If you combine some organized tours with doing your own thing you can get the best of both worlds.

The most iconic thing about Paris is the Eiffel Tower and no trip to Paris is one without visiting it. It may seem hard to believe now but when the tower was first unveiled there was quite a backlash to it. It wasn't as popular as it is today but eventually it came to grow on people. The Eiffel Tower during the day is different to the one at night and you should visit both of them for the full experience.

Speaking of the full experience, it probably isn't possible to see everything at the Louvre if you went there every day for three months. Obviously the Mona Lisa is there but there is a lot to it than that. There are paintings from every ere as well as sculptures and other amazing works of art. If the Louvre held 1/100th of the art it holds it would still be a world-class museum. That tells you about the breadth and depth of its collection.

One of the most famous French landmarks in literature is the Notre Dame Cathedral. This spawned the tale of the hunchback who called it his home. It was built around the 13th century and doesn't show its age. It has been restored and looked after to ensure that it is as splendid now as it was then. The views from up the top are simply magnificent.

A common element of all of these attractions is the Seine. The river snakes its way through Paris and is never far away. You can take a boat river down the Seine which is a unique way to view Paris. If it is your first time to the city, it is especially recommended as it is a great way to find your bearings.

In a similar vein, there are a number of magnificent and ornate bridges which the Seine flows under. Why not take a walking tour of Paris? If you do, it is sure to feature many of these famous bridges. It is impossible not to feel the romance in the air as you cross them.

No trip to Paris would be complete without sampling French food. There is no doubt that French cuisine is some of the finest in the world and you want to make the most of it while you are in Paris. There are some exceptional restaurants which you should eat at while you are in the area. In truth there are too many to list so you should do some homework based on the kinds of things that you like.
