The Best Tony Scott Films Of All Time

One director who quietly flies under the radar is Tony Scott

. He is quite different in his filmmaking from his better-known brother, Ridley Scott. Tony Scott is not the type of director to get nominated for Academy Award. He is the type of director who will put out awesome action movies that do well at the box office.

But which films are his best? The following movies are my top five favorites directed by Tony Scott.

True Romance is one film that certainly makes the cut for me. This is one of the most underrated films from the early nineties and in my opinion, the best Christian Slater film of his career.

Another great film directed by Tony Scott is Man On Fire. This movie is easily one of my favorite Denzel Washington films and one of the better action movies of the past few years. It is based on a true story, which never hurts either.

Dj Vu is another great Tony Scott directed movie. This film stars Denzel Washington (surprise, surprise) and takes place in one of the greatest American cities there is, New Orleans. If you like films involving time travel, this one is worth seeing.

Another fantastic film of Tony Scott's is Days Of Thunder. This movie was released in 1990, but in my opinion has the 1980s written all over it. Regardless, this is a great racing movie starring Tom Cruise.

Top Gun definitely makes the cut for me. Few movies have as much nostalgic value as Top Gun has for many middle aged men. I don't know why there have been so few air force based films since this one. Maybe it is because it is tough to beat Top Gun.

After you go through his catalog, it is clear that Tony Scott is an accomplished director and has had his fair share of great films.
