The Birth Of The Cartier Ladona
Cartier has a long-standing reputation as a high quality
, classic designer of jewelry, leather goods, and other various accessories. Cartier watches are no exception. Since Cartier's beginnings, the focus and philosophy have been to create signature pieces, with style and elegance. Some of their pieces tell a story, or celebrate an era. All are, simply beautiful and Cartier's look and feel always comes through.
When Cartier began designing their line of watches, they focused on the merging of their artistic jewelry making with the tradition of fine Swiss watchmaking. Cartier, being rooted in design and art recognized that a watch is not simply a mechanism for telling time...it can be a signature reflection of the person wearing it. Keeping this in mind, Cartier set out to create stunning pieces of jewelry, which just happen to be recognized around the world for their high quality and precision.
Cartier designed their Quartz line in 1967. The Quartz movement proved to be extremely precise, to one minute per year. An added bonus is that the compact size of the Quartz movement allowed for designers to come up with smaller and more sleek creations for their Cartier watches. The mechanical manual-winding watch line is also offered by Cartier. This technology dates back to the 13 century, when timepieces were rather bulky. Still, the technology was cutting edge at the time. Certainly no one back then could strap a watch to their wrist and go, but today these mechanical movements are highly accurate to within a few seconds a day, and as compact as the size of a coin. Of course, Cartier makes a mechanical self-winding watch line. The self-winding technology is amazing. Made to run without a battery and to last a lifetime.
The movements of the Cartier watch is an intricate piece of the success of their watch business, but the allure come from the stories behind the creations. Maria de Los Angeles Felix Guerena was a legendary Mexican actress in the early 1900's. Maria was born in the small town of Alamos, Sonora, Mexico, where she lived with her mother, an American educated woman from Spain, and her father, of Yaqui decent. Maria became quite famous and had designers from around the world knocking on her door, wanting to dress her. Cartier was not to be left out. Maria Felix was known as LaDona, an iconic figure of her time...LaDona inspired Cartier to design the LaDona watch in her honor. The LaDona is popular today, with its seductive serpentine lines and elegant features. This Cartier watch comes in stainless-steel or stunning 18 carat rose gold. The Cartier LaDona is a bold and beautiful timepiece, it is significant in size, yet feminine and sleek. The smooth lines of this watch combined with its unusual design make a statement. Maria Felix would be proud that she inspired such a legendary watch that women today love.
